10 Reasons Why You Wouldn't Want to Be a Victoria's Secret Angel Anyway

If you watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last night, you may have reacted in one of two ways: 1) by swearing off cheeseburgers for the rest of your life, or 2) by eating all the cheeseburgers.
First off, fact: All 47 of the insanely gorgeous 2014 Angels are genetically gifted women with super-long legs, beautiful faces, and all-around amazing bodies. That being said, their bangin’ on-screen abs, boobs, and hair got a little more help than yours did this morning. (And by a little, we mean a lot). So to help you feel a bit better about not looking like a Victoria’s Secret Angel, we bring you 10 reasons why you wouldn't want to walk that catwalk anyway.
1. A HUGE Part of Their Day Is Dedicated to Hair and Makeup
Karlie Kloss told InStyle that the Angels spend most of the day of the show getting glammed up. That’s a far cry from your five-minute makeup routine before you run out the door for work, right?
2. They Wear Sky-High Heels
They're so tall, in fact, that Adriana Lima calls them physically challenging. It's enough pressure to walk into your boss's office without tripping over your stilettos and falling on your face—no thank you to doing it in front of millions of people!
3. They Go Through Intense Workouts
On the topic of physically challenging, Adriana sometimes gets her sweat on twice a day leading up to the show. And VS Angel Lily Aldridge told Vogue that a month before the show, she sweats it out for 90 minutes a day six days a week. We much prefer toning up without sacrificing every second of free time we have.
4. Those Glows Take Some Serious Time
The man behind the ethereal tans you see on that catwalk, Jimmy Coco, told Harper's Bazaar that he gives each model a custom spray two days before the show. On the day of, the ladies' uneven skin tones and tan lines are corrected, Coco told the magazine. After all of the bronzing is complete, Coco sprays them with a "fixer spray" to keep their natural-looking glows in place even while they're sweating. Sounds…like a lot of time spent getting sprayed.
5. That Body Hair Had to Go Somewhere
Though it might be hard to believe, these ladies are actually human—and as such, we're assuming they have body hair. It's hard to tell that, though, by the looks of their ridiculously smooth skin. Before last year's show, Candice Swanepoel told the Huffington Post that waxing just comes with the modeling gig. We can only imagine how many waxing strips that adds up to.
6. They Have Airbrushed Abs
In addition to giving the Angels bronzed skin, Coco told Harper's Bazaar that he uses spray tan to enhance the models' amazing bodies. "The VS models are nearly perfect and rarely need much help," he said. "However, every model receives contouring. I always define the center line of the abdominals and the spine of the back." Back contouring? Yeah, we're not sure that's going to fit into our everyday beauty regimen.
7. …And Airbrushed Boobs
The ladies' breasts also receive a little TLC from the spray gun, Coco told Harper's Bazaar. He said he spray tans around the Angels' breasts so they're slightly lighter than the rest of the chest area, which gives them a "lift" and draws attention to the bras. Mission accomplished, Coco.
8. …And Airbrushed Booties
And lastly, but definitely not least, the models' booties get some serious spray-tan love from Coco, according to Harper's Bazaar. "My butt contour is a heart-shaped contour, which also gives the appearance of a butt-lift. This is done by shading from the tailbone, around the hips, and down to the bottom of the butt. The top part of the butt is tanned slightly lighter," he told the publication. Maybe the next time you go for a mani you can ask the salon if they offer butt shaping, too? Just kidding.
9. Those Goddess Waves Get Loads of Help
At the 2014 show, the backstage area housed 210 Victoria's Secret hair products and 30 bottles of hairspray for the 47 models, according to a Victoria's Secret press release. Hair stylists also pumped up the models' bedroom hair with tons of extensions. According to Women's Wear Daily, hair extensions "were applied liberally to most heads." WWD reporters noted that Karlie Kloss joked backstage, "Aki, how many? I'm scared," as the stylist applied another strip.
10. Thanksgiving. Period.
Speaking of liberal amounts of things, remember how, just two short weeks ago, you sat around your table, indulging in glorious turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie? Well, the Angels were in the middle of shape-up crunch time, with less than a week to go until the show's taping. It’s probably fair to say that they were not eating mashed potatoes and gravy. You did, though. You did.
